There are ways to make housing for special groups more efficient.
All people need freedom of choice while they are still able to make those choices. Home sharing may be a great alternative to nursing homes for placement. Homes can be condition specific to maximize efficiency including conditions that require specialized diets would be well served under this environment and homes with maximum efficiency.
In the disabled population, this also works for children and adults who's families can no longer care for them. There are many individuals who have similar needs that require special equipment or specifically trained personnel, that would be better served in a small environment with the proper supports to maximumizw efficiency.
There could be models that are fashioned after co-ops where individuals or their families could buy shares in a home that could be passed on.

Push will operate under the highest set of standards that best suits each geographical area and we will certify groups, companies and individuals as PUSH affiliates.
We will hire out of work professionals and tradesmen both skilled and unskilled called the PUSH CORPS... and operate under the highest degree of transparency
We will create pipelines to acquire materials locally.
As an umbrella organization, PUSH will consider applications from other non-profits to acquire properties for the greater good.
As a large concern, PUSH will be able to offer benefits, such as medical care, to it's employees and providers.
PUSH (People United to Secure Housing) is my concept. As a real estate broker my entire adult life, and both the parent of a special needs young adult, and the daughter of a woman with alzheimer's, I have seen the issues that are involved in the current economic crisis unfold before my eyes. Supply and Demand have been constant in my life having a front row seat during all types of severe market conditions. I have seen my parent's estate dwindle down to nothing while we try to handle complex issues. And in my immediate family, funding for my son, who is both retarded and autisitic was dropped by the state and has caused economic disaster for my family. Necessity being the mother of invention, I have tried to think outside the box to help deal with issues that are affecting not only my family but countless others.
As a top producing, veteran real estate broker in one of the key real estate markets in the country, former banking loan officer as well as a builder who has renovated several homes in New York and in Connecticut, Mary has had a front row perspective on the economy and was perfectly positioned to have authored this concept of PUSH and the PUSH CORPS.
As a first generation American, her parents instilled a genuine love of country and the ideal that one person has the power to create their own destiny. Thinking outside the box is Mary's forte as she has been an innovator in her profession as well as in every aspect of her life. She lives in Westport CT with her husband and four children.
